Sid Roth

Sid:   I am so excited to be introducing to you two young worship leaders, Nic and Rachael Billman; but although they’re young they have been leading worship since age thirteen.  And they have have a brand new CD, in fact it’s two CDs it’s called “The Least of These” and the feedback that we’re getting, but I’ve listened to it myself and it will give you literally the heart of God.  And if you have the heart of God you have everything and I was reading through my notes, Nic and I was really taken with your “Rose Project” explain.

Nic:  We minister on the streets to the prostitutes and the transvestites in Brazil and we realize that often times their touch from the Christian community is in condemnation or judgment.  And so we actually got the idea from a man that does similar ministry in Thailand to give roses out to the prostitutes.  And then we went a step further and got a thing called “The Father’s Love Letter” translated into Portuguese which take verses from the Bible that talks about God’s love and writes it in the form of a letter.  And so we go on the streets and we hand them out and what we do is we take the rose to the prostitute or the transvestite and we say describe it this rose to us; and they’ll say “Oh, it’s beautiful and it’s red and you know it’s unique” and they just describe it and we say, “And just like that rose is beautiful and unique, God created you beautiful and unique and just like you smiled when we gave it to you God smiles when he looks at you and this is a letter from Him, a love letter from your Poppa telling you that He loves you so much and we want you to read this and just hear His heart for you.” And it’s amazing to watch their faces as we give it to them.

Sid:  But most of these, what are these woman looking for that are out on the streets and I say women, most of them are children, what are they looking for?

Nic:  Well, it’s all identity, I mean the root issue, the problem is not prostitution the problem is fatherlessness.  They are out on the streets and they are trying to find their identity and they are trying to be loved and almost all of them when you trace it back either didn’t have a father or had a bad relationship with their father, ran away from home, whatever it is and this is just the way that they’re getting affection, but they think it is affection and they’re getting paid to do it, but it is as you and I know it is not answering or solving the problem. 

Sid:  Tell me about one, pick one and describe her.

Nic:  There was a girl that we talked to just this last trip when I was there in April and she was eleven years old and she was dressed very inappropriate for her age and as soon as we came out to talk to her she said, I’m not in that industry.  But we knew that she was by the way that she was acting.  And we could tell that she was stoned, that she was drugged and that happens very often, they try to keep the girls drugged so that they can keep them hooked on it.  And we talked to her a little bit and it was so hard because I didn’t get really anywhere with her, you know I’m praying and asking, God I need a “Word of Knowledge” for this girl and for all of them I need to have some sort of prophetic word or something that would be like a key to unlock their heart.  And as I talked to her more I just felt like God said, I didn’t tell you to do that I just told you to love, just to be love to these people, and so it’s very hard and cause you talk to girls like that and we are going to start something to change that but it’s hard when you are just visiting and you just want to rescue them all and you know get them all off the streets and take them somewhere safe.  But you can be the Father in that moment that you are talking to them, you can be love and you never know what those seeds will do.

Sid:  You know you teach a lot on compassion because you live in that word, compassion, but the Lord told you one time almost a warning, if you let faith grow bigger than compassion it’s dangerous.  Explain that to me.

Nic:  Yeah, there was a time when I was praying and I was just seeking God, seeking more of Him and I heard Him say Nic, if you let your faith increase above compassion you grow dangerously close to “Depart from Me I never knew you.” 

Sid:  You know there is a generation that’s growing now, it didn’t start that way, but now it’s growing now that learn the principals of the Bible, of faith as by rote as by formula, it’s by will, and they’re going to see some miracles, but could that warning be for them?

Nic:  Yeah, yeah I believe it is, because you know those people that came to Jesus, they cast out demons, they healed the sick, they raised the dead all in His name, but if we begin to operate in faith, we see a lot of miracles, but we are not doing it in love.  When we see the life of Jesus, He looked upon the multitudes with compassion and then they had when they were healed they said you’re faith has made you well; and I believe that faith is a natural response to compassion and we’ve seen people healed and we had no faith for them to be healed, but we had a heart for them, we had compassion for them and God healed them.

Sid:  How do you walk in compassion?  Give us an important nugget right now.

Nic:  You know Sid, I think a simple prayer starts all of that and the prayer is “Father show me how to love, as You love.”  And for sometimes that maybe that you’re at Wal-Mart and there is a person behind you in line and you pay for their milk and their bread that day.  It may be that you pray for your waitress at the restaurant that day.  It maybe that you do go on a missions trip, but that everywhere that you go that you ask God “Show me how to love like you love, let me see like you see and whatever it is I want to recognize the needs of the people around me and I want to meet that need through the love of God.”

Sid: …“The Least of These” I believe you impart that, was that your vision for these CDs, to impart God’s Compassion to be released on people?

Nic:  Yeah it really is, we really wanted that to come through the music and come right into the hearts of the people listening.

Sid:  Okay, let’s listen to a selection called “Breathe”…Tell me about “Breathe.”

Nic:  Breathe is a song where we’re just asking God to breathe in our generation and to make the dry bones as flesh and that God would come, and although the world says we see dry bones we say we see an army, the world says that we see a funeral, we say we see a wedding and just asking God to breathe on us.

Sid:  Do you feel that you need the breath of God upon you?  Get ready to receive.

Sid:  One new man, one new species of being a complete dwelling place for the presence of God.  When Jesus people come into the book, Paul is beside himself.  He says if it was a blessing that the Jewish people rejected their Messiah and it was, Gentiles could be grafted in, how much greater and even in unbelief.  Do you see all that the good inventions and things that Jewish people have done over the centuries in unbelief?  If it was a blessing that Jewish people rejected their Messiah, get ready for such a blessing that is beyond you to even fathom when Jewish people receive their Messiah.  It literally, I believe when Paul says this this is what he means.  He says it will literally be life from the dead.  I believe that it will be a release of the miraculous that we will see dead people coming back from life.  There will be such power and such glory, when these two people groups of God become one in Jesus.  My guest is Dean Sikes.  And Dean Sikes is a proven prophet that has learned through life experiences things that have changed his destiny and his greatest desire is for you to learn these things yourself.  And learn the keys to answered prayer and learn how to hear for yourself what your destiny is.  How you can discover it supernaturally.  Dean, what is God telling you right now?

Dean:  You know Sid, I believe we are living in a day where God wants to show up more than any other time throughout all of time and visit with His people.  To love on them, to talk with them and I believe we have to hear from God.  You know its people talk to me all the time, does God still speak?  Well, yeah He still speaks.  I mean he never changes and if I may, I just as I was listening to you, I heard the Lord share a little prompting in my heart that I think it is for a lot of your people to grab hold of.  I was scheduled to minister in a church on a Sunday and the previous Wednesday the Lord spoke to me and said, cancel the date.  I said, Lord your words on the line, you said, let your yes be yes and your no be no.  He said, cancel the date.  I need you in Chattanooga where you live.  I called the pastor and said, I don’t know why but the Lord has told me not to go and not to come this weekend and be here and the Pastor said, you know what, I trust your ability to hear God.  Let’s reschedule and Sid, that was Super bowl Sunday and I was taking a walk that afternoon before the game started and I was in our neighborhood and I heard this still small voice rise up on the inside of me and said, you won’t watch any of the Superbowl, you’ll be at the hospital.  I got an uneasiness in my heart and I went back to my home and when I got home my phone was ringing and saying, get to the hospital.  Your Dad is having a heart attack. 

Sid:  And had you not been obedient you would have missed that.

Dean:  Yep. Yep that is…I often wondered what would have happened during that day had I been down in Florida instead of five minutes away from where my Dad was.  And I believe the reason the Lord wanted me to share that with your audience was simply this, there are people and I know this very strongly and God’s going to whisper something and it’s not going to make any sense, and it’s going to go against everything in your mind.  But listen with the heart, not your mind and obey what you hear.

Sid:  The mind really gets in the way. 

Dean:  It does, it does.  We try to understand, we try to figure out.  We try to reason and God is a Spirit and that Spirit, when that Holy Spirit rises up on the inside of us and comes and tells us something.  He may have to shout it from a housetop; he may have to whisper it.  It may be a gentle prompting, but I’m telling you, there are people in the next seven to ten days in your audience who will hear the voice of God, where they know God or not there will be an instruction that will make no sense but there will be an underlining peace.  Please, please do not ignore that.

Sid:  Give me one more example that was some example in reference to your father.  What happened to him by the way?

Dean:  Well, what’s interesting is that that day, when I met him at the hospital it was obvious that it was very serious and the doctors began to work with him and took him into a lab, Cath Lab where they were going to insert a stent and I was out in the lobby with my Mom and Sister and others and the Lord said the stent is not going to work, it is going to be a process.  Prepare everyone, so I told my Mom what I had heard and a few minutes later here comes the Doctor and he has a very concerned look on his face, he said that the stent did not work, we’ve got to go to open heart surgery.  For the next five and half hours they worked on my Dad and they did six bypass.  I didn’t know that you could even do six by passes but they did and sure enough it was a process but it ended up being nineteen days in the hospital.  Nine or ten of which was in ICU but God, every day was faithful.  We stood in faith, we hung on to the word, and my Dad left that hospital with a new lease on life, doing great today.

Sid:  Out of curiosity did you ever go back to that church and what good came from you postponing by speaking I the church?

Dean:  Actually, I have gone back I have a tremendous relationship with that Pastor, the church had exploded, I mean literally it has just grown by leaps and bounds and I’m scheduled to go back there later on.

Sid:  Tell me a bit about how you’ve been supernaturally protected when you fly.  I mean, you went from a guy that was so fearful you didn’t want to fly any more to someone that flies all over the map.

Dean:  Yeah, we do and what’s interesting when you fly, you learn a lot about God.  If you want to really learn about God, go up in an airplane in a thunderstorm and take your seat belt off; you’ll understand, He’s real.  And you know when I’m flying I’ll sit in the back of my airplane, but I can see a lot of the instruments.  There is a radar there, and you know some of the times when we I know God’s sending us some place.  I have literally seen Him literally move clouds out of our way just big enough to let out airplane go through or around.  Just to make sure that we can get to where we need to be going.  Because, you see when you work for God, God knows everything and He know what we need.  Our job really is just to believe, to stand in faith and just to believe and to love people.  Because that is the heart beat of who I believe Jesus is.  He just loves.  It is not trying to figure Him out, it is not trying to understand everything He did, it is simply going, Jesus is real, he loves us with a love that unimaginable and He’s got a tremendous plan for our life.  And if we just hang on and keep on and not stop doing what brought success and enter into our true trusting relationship with Him our lives can change for the better and we don’t ever have to go back to that old man.

Sid:  How do you walk in this love?

Dean:  It’s day by day.  It is staying in the word.  Well, people go you are in full time ministry, you are supposed to be.  I mean, I don’t read my Bible twenty hours a day.  But, I’m consistently in the Word; the Lord told me a long time ago that if you will be consistent and persistent, you’ll stay in my presence.  I had an encounter with God one day that truly became the conversation of my life with God.  I went to a lake house for a day and half Sid, with no agenda other than to hear God and anybody can do this.  I just began to worshipping God.  I put on music that just worshiped God and I worshipped Him.  And I entered into a place and He said I want you to start writing.  I felt like an idiot, I forgot to bring paper.  He said, don’t worry about it, He said that there is paper, He told me right where to go, into which bedroom and which cabinet and there it was, it was a ream of paper.  And I began to write and I wrote and I wrote and I wrote and I would worship, and I would worship and worship and write and worship and write and worship and when it was over the rest of my life was on paper.  I had fourteen pages from God.  And it truly defined our ministry, our marriage, our children, what’s God’s called me to do the prophetic gift.  And you see, I share that not to tell you what happened to me, I share that to encourage that God will meet you right where you are.

Sid:  Well, when you teach on “Discovering Your Destiny” there’s a supernatural anointing on your teaching.  That’s the key, it’s wonderful that God did this for you, but what about me am I Swiss cheese?  That’s what people are asking right now.  Will He do that for me?

Dean:  Yes, absolutely undeniably yes, God doesn’t love this person more than he loves that person, because God loves people because he put His life into people.  And so why would God create us and then not tell us what to do or show us how to get there?  The Bible says, thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph through Christ Jesus.  Always means, always, triumph means victory.  If we will just follow Jesus, he’ll lead us to victory every single time.  It may not always look like what we think it is going to look like.  But we know if we love him and were called according to His purpose it’s going to work to our better.

Sid:  What do you do when you have a thought that God’s telling you to do something but you’re not sure that that thought is coming from God?

Dean:  Well, I always test it, I share with people when I minister to them, whatever I tell you if I have a word for you, put it on a shelf.  Let God perform His Word with two or three witnesses.  I’m a messenger.  I’m either watering a seed somebody else has planted in your life or I’m planting a seed that some else will water.  I’m going to get out of the way.  When I get a prompting that I think is from God but I don’t know is from God, I wait and I let God confirm it.  But there is a peace that comes with it; I know the difference between waiting on God and moving quickly with God.  And typically the peace is what I’m looking for.  The witness of the Spirit on the inside of me, cause there is a true Holy Spirit, He’s as supernatural as they come and He will show up whenever He wants to.

Sid:  Were about ready to see this dwelling place of God in His spirit just intensify for the greatest move of God’s Spirit in history.  That’s why I’m interviewing this week, Jim Hockaday.  We find out on yesterday’s broadcast that he was a singer with the Rhema singers for seven years.  He got opportunity to minister with Kenneth Hagen, Sr. and he spent ten years as a Coordinator for the Prayer and the Healing School.  And one of the things that God has shown him is how he can empower you to release what’s already inside of you.  And he has that anointing to draw it out.  But, I understand when, Jim Hockaday when you were just four years of age, you got saved and you immediately started evangelizing everyone around you.  How does a young kid have even a thought to do this?

Jim:  Well, that’s a real good question Sid.   I don’t know exactly how all that plays together, it may had to do with the calling on my life.  I do, I am able to say this, my parents are wonderful parents and they would always bring people over and have guests over to the house and entertain them and just open the word of God.  Many people that were saved, but also those that were not saved and they would open the Word of God and share with them the things of the Lord and so just being exposed to that.  And learning in my Baptist church that did a great job teaching us the Roman Road, I just had a passion to see people saved and it wasn’t like every single day I’d grab somebody but I would be inspired very often.

Sid:  Now, at age seventeen you developed a painful disease called crohn’s disease.  In fact I think if I recall right, it’s a terminal disease.

Jim:  The doctors would say its terminal.  Yes, sir.

Sid:  Okay, so at seventeen what happened?

Jim:  Well, I came down with that disease and of course, back at that moment I didn’t understand healing like I do today and so we just accepted it and had some surgery at that point that was very successful.  And even the surgery at that point was a supernatural event.  I was getting ready for an emergency surgery with a large tumor in my body and it just miraculously came out of my body and the doctors were just shocked and I had been witnessing to them and they just said well we know God’s involved in this.  And so, one particular afternoon and this is one of the reasons why it kind of typifies my ministry to encourage people to do the works of Jesus.  But the Lord spoke to me and said, get up and go home and on the way home, I’ll heal you and I didn’t. I was ready to do that and called some different individuals to get their encouragement too, of which I should have just acted on what the Lord said.  And they discouraged me from doing that and in the process of time, I sat there and didn’t receive the healing like the Lord had for me.  And so I went through a surgery that was successful and then today I continue to have some amazing testimonies about that particular problem.

Sid:  Well, six years ago it actually came back, what did you do?

Jim:  Yea, there was an attack on my life, without a doubt six years ago.  My bowels perforated inside and at that particular moment I didn’t, we had just left Rhema into our own ministry and I didn’t have, I believe insurance, having good insurance.  But I didn’t have any at that moment because it’s difficult to get insurance when you have had a preexisted condition.  So I looked at my wife laying on the floor in the most intense pain I have ever had in my life and I just looked at her and said help me into the bed.  I said number one I’m not dying and number two were not going to the doctor because I don’t want to lose all our money.  I said, so get me up in the bed and I did…

Sid:  And it’s kind of interesting, your describing to me what is normal for third world people.  If God doesn’t heal them they don’t have the options of doctors.

Jim:  Yea, that’s right, that’s exactly right and that would.  People have asked me for a long time, the question.  How come God heals so many people in other countries?  And my answer is always, because they don’t have Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Sid:  Okay, so your wife helps you into the bed, what happened next?

Jim:  Well, and here’s I’m going to kind of tell off on myself a little bit because I definitely preach to liberate people into the anointing instead of putting them into bondage by getting them to do all kinds of things to prove themselves to be full of faith.  If that makes sense and I’ll say it this way; for the next three weeks I tried everything.  And I can’t believe I did after being one that would teach like I taught.  But I tried everything.  I would have people pray for me over the phone, I would have people come to my house and pray for me, I got into my confession sheets and went over it and built up my faith and…

Sid:  And I know a lot of people who have done that and not gotten healed. 

Jim:  Well, and I wasn’t getting healed either, that’s my point, I was getting nowhere.  My wife was feeding me these incredible healthy soups that were about killing me themselves ha ha.   And so about three weeks into it, three o’clock in the morning I got up and went out into the family room and at this point, Sid I went from 175 pounds down to 125 pounds. 

Sid:  And by the way, what you were doing wasn’t wrong, it was right.  What you were doing but there was something missing. 

Jim:  Well, what I was doing, I was putting all the attention on what I could do to get God to do something inside of trusting in what He’s already done.  And this is what I did that morning, early in that morning I sat there and I said, Lord this is the last discussion we are going to have about my healing.  I said, as of this moment I will not doubt that you have said by your stripes I was healed.  If I was healed then right now I am.  Good night, thank you very much for it, I’m going to bed and I got up went out and made myself a chocolate milkshake just because I had been eating so many healthy things I just wanted to eat something, or drink something that was against my regiment and I went to bed.  The next day, I woke up no change, the next day I woke up was Saturday and I was off to a meeting of a weeklong meeting; morning and night services.

Sid:  But, you were down to what did you say 125 pounds?  From normally 170 let’s say.

Jim:  One hundred twenty-five pounds.  Sure, I mean I was wearing the smallest I could find, I had my belts tight as they could be.  When the pastor saw me who was a pastoral friend that had known me for many years, when I traveled with the Hagen Ministry he just gasp at me and just said what has happened?  And this was his statement, you just rest, I’ll preach this week for you.  I looked at him and said if you want to send me home in a six foot pine box then you can preach, otherwise I came here to do my job, I’m going to preach and I did.  Within that week, it started from the first moment I got up to peach, my body became stronger and stronger and stronger and I put on over thirty-eight pounds in that one week. 

Sid:  Well, wait thirty-eight pounds in one week.  That sounds pretty supernatural.

Jim:  Well, for me it was, who had not been use to be able to put on weight, it was incredible and the strength that came back to my body was awesome.

Sid:  And were there many miracles that occurred?

Jim:  Oh, there was some wonderful things that took place, in fact.  One of the outstanding things and there were tumors that disappeared.  There were peoples’ ears that stopped ringing; there was all kinds of bones and tissue that was healed.  But one miracle stands out and that was a little girl that was twelve years of age.  She sat in the second row and I’ll never forget, she sat right on the edge and she had this big brace and covered her chest and covered her back and had some straps on the side.  So I could tell there was something with her spine.  And I walked by her twice and reached my finger over and touched her on the shoulder, and I said honey you know Jesus is healing you right now.  And that’s all I said to her and I ministered.  And now the next night when I came up to stand at my seat while they were singing praised and worship the little girl tapped me on the back of my shoulder and I looked and there was no brace.  She has a big smile on her face and she said look and the mother held up two sets of x-rays.  One was her x-ray with her back, which was hunchback.  It was so bad that it was in the form of an upside down C.  The doctors told her that by the time you reach twenty-one years of age you will never see the sun again.  And the next x-ray was what they took that morning as the doctor took her brace off her back completely snapped and popped and straight as you and I and I saw a perfect back and spine.  And those were documented.

Sid:  Yea, and you know the thing that is so exciting to me is the key that you began to see even at that point of this intimacy with God as opposed to striving and works caused what you were entitled to to happen and it was almost like it was blocked before. 

Jim:  Yea. I really like the way you put that.  That’s very well spoken.  That’s exactly what’s happening today.  That’s exactly what’s happened.  Put that in a nutshell.  That’s where the church is at.  If you can get the church to release their hold on what their trying to do and let God do what Jesus has already accomplished.  We’ll begin to see the miraculous left and right. And if I could share this one moment I’ll say this.  People would look and say, well Jim and reason why you’ve seen things happen is because you’re called to be a prophet, apostle, evangelist, what not.  And I have to say let me share this brief testimony.  When I went to the Prayer and Healing Center after traveling with Brother Hagen, what a wonderful experience.  Some miracles took place that he helped me to experience when I was on the road.  But, now I’m going to preach and stand up in front of people and I’m the one that has to bring the anointing to the people.  And for the first three months in prayer and healing school when I was there, we had more people dying then we did…

Sid:  Oh no, I hate to leave on this point but I know the people listening are going to come back.  You want to hear and get this revelation that Jim Hockaday has.  It’s really the missing ingredient in the connection with this Holy Spirit and the miraculous, six CD seminar “How to Develop Intimacy with the Holy Spirit.”

Sid:  We want everyone everywhere to walk in the supernatural.  It should be natural as breathing to walk in the supernatural.  And that’s why after thirty-five years of investigating the supernatural I picked out the ten best testimonies with prayers of impartation.  You know when the first apostles walked with Jesus they caught something.  I believe when you read these stories, you are going to catch something.  We were doing the interview with Earthquake Kelley and Earthquake at age four got into drugs, his father beat him daily.  He was groomed to be a Voodoo priest for the top president of Haiti, Poppa Doc.  And he died, he went to Hell, his life was transformed, he died again, he went to Heaven, his life was even more transformed and boy is your life going to be transformed when you read his story.  Let’s go to that excerpt.

Sid:  When I interviewed Earthquake Kelley I mean, this man should have been dead multiple times he comes from generations of Voodoo priests.  He was groomed to be a Voodoo priest under the President of Haiti, he was involved in crime, he was involved in drugs, he was involved in prostitution, at a young age he was carrying a gun, he tapped into the spirit world and they had him all set up to kill as many young people as possible.  But he had an encounter with Jesus.  He said, Jesus if you can use me, I’ll make a deal with you, use me more for your kingdom than the devil used me for his kingdom.  And he is doing that with a vengeance and the devil was pretty upset with him.  Tell me about the day before the accident, your son Scott.  You were horsing around in the kitchen.  Tell me about that.

Earthquake:  Yes, me being a professional fighter and had three sons and they always try to take shots at me to see if they can hit me.  And they had a hard time and he had a hard time hitting me and I would tap them a little bit.

Sid:  Well were doing this by phone but I’ve seen you and I wouldn’t want to be fighting you at all Earthquake and no why you got your name, but go ahead.

Earthquake:  My wife told me, she always tell me to take it easy on our sons you know because a couple of times there I would box with them and stuff like that, and I think I might have tapped them a little bit too hard.  She says, oh you are hitting them too hard baby.  You are hitting them too hard.  Well, I’m just trying to make them tough baby a little bit, you know.  But this particular time we were boxing around.  My older son Scott and I and having a good time at it and he said, I’m going to get you Pops; I’m going to get you.  I said, no you are still smooth, your still smooth, oh yea, oh yea but he stopped laughing and playing then he grabbed me and he grabbed me real tight and started squeezing me real tight and I said, what’s the matter, what’s the matter?  He said, Dad I want you to make me a promise, I said what’s the matter something happening at work or something?  Boss say something to you or something?  He said no, he said I want you to promise me that you would never stop preaching deliverance, never stop helping people.  You and Mom have helped people for years and you help people get on their feet, you take people in and Dad I just love you and Mom for what you are doing.  He said but promise me that you won’t stop.  Now this is difficult for me Sid, to tell it so bear with me you know, but.

Sid:  I understand.

Earthquake:  He held me and he said Dad, don’t you stop helping people, don’t you stop preaching deliverance.  He said Dad you are having an effect on people.  You are making lives better, he said don’t let nothing stop you and he was squeezing and said you promise me, I’m not going to turn you loose until you do.  Now he was pretty big size too and he had a big grip on me.  And I said, okay Son I’m not, I’m not I promise you that nothing’s going to stop me.  He let me go and he ran out the room crying.  And for him to cry something really has to bother him you know and to cry like that.  And when I was trying to catch my breath I was so emotionally drained myself from him squeezing me so tight I tried to go behind him but he went out the door.  My wife said, what’s the matter what’s wrong?  What’s wrong with him?  I said I don’t know, I don’t know he…I asked him if it was something wrong at work and he told me no.  He told me to never stop preaching.  I told him I wouldn’t.  Well the next day I was called to go down, which was the 7^th of December 1998 I was called to go into Vegas to preach down there.  And while there I got the worse call Sid that anybody would ever want.  My wife called me and she was just hysterical.  She told me that some of the people that we usually help down the street car jacked him and shot him in the chest at point blank.  And killed him and it’s the hardest thing man.  To go through that and…

Sid:  It’s almost as if he had a premonition something was going to happen.

Earthquake: Excuse me, yea excuse me.  But yea, that’s exactly right Sid, exactly right.  He, as if him loving Jesus and that the Lord spoke to him, I really believe that God spoke to him to speak to me.

Sid:  Okay, so time goes by and you develop a headache, your wife insists you go to the hospital but it turns out to be brain aneurism, tell what you remember.

Earthquake:  I remember when I got to the hospital; they put me in the examination room.  They start working on me, but I still wasn’t out of the danger with the brain aneurism.  They put me in intensive care right by the nurses’ station.  They put me on fifteen minute bed watch.  Every fifteen minutes around the clock they would come in and check my blood pressure.  But I’m not a doctor or anything like that but I do know this after being in the hospital that your blood pressure should not be 200 over 200.  And my blood pressure went up that high and they said I was going to die again and one day I slipped away.  I did die and this time I found myself in the most beautiful place.  Oh, it was so awesome I found myself in paradise standing next to an angel and I’m six five and the angel is at least a foot taller than me.  It was so beautiful, I saw the blades of grass, each blade of grass had a jewel or a diamond or emblem in it and it was swaying back and forth.  I heard a choir singing.  The choir was better than any choir I’ve ever heard and I’ve heard some great choirs.  I saw the crystal river it looked like liquid diamonds, Sid as it moved it looked like it was simmering and dancing to the music that was coming from the choir and the praises of the Lord.  I saw these giant trees.  It looked like big giant weeping willow trees they just swayed like they were praising God.   Hallelujah, oh man I still remember it.  It is awesome and oh God forgive me. Oh…

Sid:  I feel such a presence of God as you’re sharing this and it’s almost like the angels that have been in my office for the last few weeks are bringing that same presence in the studio.  Is Heaven what you expected or more?

Earthquake:  It’s more, as a Christian and I know this sounds a little funny but, a little corny but in the back of some Bibles’ they try their best to draw Heaven, you know what I mean and you can get those pictures and you get so excited about it.  But the artist didn’t even; his paint brush couldn’t even touch what I saw.  Glory to God, they did the best they could but I’m telling you unless you have been there and actually seen it for yourself, the awesome radiance the power and the presence.  The presence of God, you think that it’s strong in the church service when we really go forth in praising God, all with one accord.  You ought to feel it there.  Oh, thank you Jesus humph it is so awesome it goes beyond words how to explain the presence of God there.  It’s like its fresh, uncut, just straight right off the assembly room floor so to speak.  Right there you are right with it and it’s with you and you’re face to face with the blessings of God with the angels.  Oh my, oh my God.

Sid:  Did you see any people there?

Earthquake:  Yes, I did there was an angel there and he said walk around and as I started to walk around I saw that river.  And I was there next to the river and I looked to the other side and I saw some of the saints of God that I went to there home going services their memorials and they were there and I was so happy to see one in particular was a former pastor of mine in 2002.  He went to be with the Lord and I was there in the home going service and I saw him on the other side.  And I saw some to other saints that I knew that went on and I saw my son over there and he saw me. 

Sid:  You’re talking about the son that was shot point blank and during the carjacking?

Earthquake:  Yes, I saw him.

Sid:  I can imagine what went on inside of you when you realized that it was your son. 

Earthquake:  Thank you Jesus, you know why I was so happy Sid, because I did for my children what my mother did for me.  I taught them the word.  I told them, their others were real stressful but ours upbringing to the word, paid off because to here my son was, had not been shot and killed like so many people have but here my son was with the Lord.  Oh that blessed me, so I guess I wanted to get over on the side of the river and hug him and squeeze him and have him show me around the section around the other side of the river which I could not see all of but he said you have to go back Dad.  You have to go back and finish the things that you and I talked about.  And I was like; no I want to stay here with you.  He said, no Dad you remember you gave me your word.  You promised me that you would go back and finish teaching deliverance and ministering and helping the people to get here Dad.  And that’s what he told me.  Oh, thank you Jesus.

Sid:  That was just a little bit from Earthquake Kelly story and Earthquake has become a friend of mine.  And he has so changed from that man that was going to be the top Voodoo priest for Poppa Doc of Haiti.  Do you know when Haiti had the earthquake he called me on the phone and he said, Sid I have got to go there.  I must help those people.  He walks in such love today.  I want him and so many of the others to mentor you.  How about Todd White?  He’s one of the ten in the book.  What compassion that Todd White has.  This is what he says.  I love it; my faith trumps your unbelief.  How would you like to be able to say this?  I want to get this book “Supernatural Experiences” in your hand.

SID: Hello. Sid Roth here with Peggy Joyce Ruth, and Pat and Dell Hicks had what is called a Thanksgiving miracle. Why? Because it happened on Thanksgiving. There was no hope because Dell went down in a plane in the Atlantic. The water is freezing. There’s sharks swimming around. He totally passes out. Everyone gave up on him, but he didn’t give up. He knew the promises of Psalm 91. And his wife didn’t give up. Even though they tried to get her to give up, she knew the promises of Psalm 91. And as you witness this Thanksgiving miracle I believe God has many, many more miracles for you in Psalm 91. Let’s take a look.

Dell Hicks: I left the Bahamas on Tuesday on a twin engine airplane. I was on my way to Fort Lauderdale to attend a friend’s funeral right before Thanksgiving. I was on the airplane with a deep sea diver, attorney and his wife, and the pilot, and the dog.

Narrator: Neither Dell Hicks nor the four other people on the plane that day have any idea what was about to happen next.

Dell Hicks: I looked out the window and I seen one engine go out and I noticed that the pilot was very concerned.

Narrator: The pilot realized the trouble they were in. He called for the passengers to help by throwing some of the non-essential things off the plane to lighten the load. Then the unthinkable happened. At five p.m. the second engine went down. They were 20 miles from land as the plane began to plunge into the frigid Atlantic Ocean.

Pilot: Everybody hang on. Brace yourself. We’re going down.

Dell Hicks: When the second engine went out there was so much confusion on the plane that the pilot forgot to put out a May Day signal.

Pilot: Brace yourselves.

Narrator: It was a miracle that the plane didn’t break into pieces. Instead, the pilot was able to glide it down on top of the ocean surface as if landing on solid ground. Miraculously the ocean had suddenly become extremely smooth and calm.

Pat Hicks: We were waiting at the airport for Dell to come in and the plane didn’t come in. The time went on by and it was that night, the next thing we knew it was Wednesday, and the next thing we knew it was Thursday morning. It had been about a total of 40 hours. We had not had the first word from anybody about what had happened to the airplane.

Narrator: The news media reported that this was one of the largest search operations in the history of that region. Yet night after night there was no sign of the plane or any survivors.

Dell Hicks: The plane went down about 25 miles from Bimini and the five us were very cold in the salty water.

Narrator: One of the passengers was an expert deep sea diver who for the first time ever brought his swim gear with him on his return to the states. He was able to dive into the water and find the airplane. He returned to the surface with his wetsuit and other diving gear. He also brought back some life vests.

Dell Hicks: I did not have time to be afraid. I was only trying to survive.

Pat Hicks: It was a miracle Dell didn’t freeze to death in those waters. It was an unusually cold time and the weather was in the 50s. The water temperatures were in the 60s, I believe. One of the news anchors there in Miami happened to be a professional diver, put on his wetsuit, went down to the bay and they showed it on the news that he was coming out of the water. He told the news media he could not stand that water even with his wetsuit on. And this is what they were all enduring out there in the water for those hours.

Dell Hicks: I think what really gave me hope was that my wife and I had been studying Psalm 91, and God said He would give his angels to charge over me, and He did.

Narrator: The attorney gave up and dived the following morning after the crash. They held on to his body, hoping to give him a decent burial once they were rescued. Then a 10-foot tidal shark smelled the body and began to close in on them.

Dell Hicks: We released the body and thank God the shark did not attack us. The water was so cold that my one leg had cramped and I couldn’t use it, and I would just throw up my hand and praise God for His help.

Narrator: Later that afternoon, the attorney’s wife died. Dell passed out and remained unconscious.

Pat Hicks: That night I finally laid down and went to sleep. But just after I dozed off I heard in my spirit to get up and confess the Lord of God over Dell. I started confessing, “Yes Lord, I confess Dell Hicks is rescued safe and sound. With my heart I believe Dell is rescued safe and sound.” And then I called my pastor and his wife answered the phone, and I said, “Can’t you feel it? Can’t you feel that whatever has happened to Dell is over.” I said, “It’s over.” And I didn’t know it, but she turned to her husband and she said, “Pat’s lost it. We’d better get over there.” [laugh]

Narrator: Danny, the diver, told the pilot to stay with Dell. Danny began to swim back to shore to get help. He was swimming from nine o’clock that evening to about eight o’clock the next morning. It was a miracle that he finally reached the shore and got help. The Coast Guard sent out by helicopter on a search for the pilot and Dell, based on the information given by Danny, the diver.

Dell Hicks: I was unconscious and I got separated from the pilot and when the Coast Guard flew over me they thought I was dead.

Narrator: The Coast Guard’s policy is that if a person is dead they continue to search for the living. One of the men of the Coast Guard looked down at the apparently lifeless body of Dell. Knowing that they would have to pass over him and try to find the pilot, the guardsman said:

Coast Guardsman: Lord, if he’s alive, let him move something.

Narrator: A miracle happened. On queue, Dell’s arm suddenly lifted up for the Coast Guard to see.

Pat Hicks: I believe it was an angel that lifted Dell’s arm. It just had to be an angel.

Narrator: After lifting Dell to safety the Coast Guard found the pilot alive, too.

Pat Hicks: We know that God did a miracle for us in this circumstance surrounding this airplane crash. His word is true and we have really studied Psalm 91 for a long number of years. We’ve depended on the verses, especially the verses that say, “He’s given his angels charge over us to keep us in all of our ways.” He says in the last three verses that, “Because you’ve set your love upon me. Therefore when you call upon me, I’ll hear you, I’ll answer you and deliver you, and with long life will I satisfy you.” His word is true. It’s always true. We lived it then and we live in it now. We thank God so much for His love. Amen.

Dell Hicks: Amen.

Pat Hicks: Amen.

Sid: Now my guest has every reason to be red hot for the Messiah because he pastored the great Brownsville revival over four million people from all over the world.  Many of them repented and came back to their first love.  Many of them were born again.  Many of them entire ministries entire lives were transformed.  It affected young it affected old and he could rejoice forever in Heaven over what happened.  But lightning has struck again, July 23^rd 2010 there was a conference at a Church he was now pastoring, I’ve never heard throughout the history of revival of someone that has shepherd a great worldwide revival and then the revival comes back to another location and that’s exactly what happened.  And the thing that I have found so exciting Pastor John Kilpatrick is it’s a second generation revival.  And what I mean by that some of the key people that God has raised up to partner with you in this revival were part of the Brownsville revival.  For instance tell me about the worship leader.

Pastor John: Well Lidia Stanley came to us the first time with her parents when she was eleven years old and I interviewed her at Brownsville and she was so growny acting.  She just felt like a little adult and I interviewed her and she was so cute.  Everybody remembers Lidia but she was so impressed by Lindale and his worship leading that she picked up the keyboard and she started playing keyboard and she began to write songs.  Today she is our worship leader and she is absolutely phenomenal.  I have never seen anybody able to lead worship effortlessly like she does.  She just opens her mouth and it just comes out.  It’s no strain, it just comes out and it’s heavenly, it’s powerful and it’s anointed but its heavenly.

Sid: Will your revival be going on when the rapture occurs?  I know that that is a presumptuous thing for me to ask you but I have to ask you that.  What do you believe?

Pastor John: I think it probably will.  I really do, I think that there is going  to be places, pockets around the world that things are going to be so bad in the world I believe that God’s going to encourage His people.  Because they’ll know that there are places where they can go and be with people of like precious faith and be touched and be healed and be empowered.

Sid: So you were handpicked to shepherd this revival, look you already had experience doing that.  Lydia was raised in revival.  Handpicked to lead worship in revival and I find it fascinating about the evangelists that God raised up.  I mean a few years ago he was into drugs and alcohol and tell me about Nathan Morris.

Pastor John: Nathan was he’s the son of a pastor in Great Britain.  His Dad’s pastored there for many years.  He has been a powerful prayer warrior; his father has but Nathan, when he turned like sixteen and seventeen he just went into the world.  He went and got hooked on drugs.  He was living with a woman, a young lady and as far away from God as you could possibly be and his Dad came to Brownsville was powerfully touched and brought some videos home with him.  Nathan came home for a visit; his folks were not home and started watching the videos.  And the power of God knocked him in the floor, just absolutely collapsed in the floor under the presence of God.  And the Lord spoke to him and told him, if you don’t come to me today, he said I won’t be coming back this way toward you anymore.  I won’t be drawing you by my Spirit anymore if you don’t come to me today.  He repented, he got saved, got filled with the Spirit of God and the fire of God came on him.  I mean literally the fire of God came on the man.  And he had the fire on him for just weeks upon weeks.  And the Lord gave him the gift of healing and signs and wonders.  The thing that sets this revival apart, even from Brownsville is that we had some miracles in Brownsville but the miracles here are very frequent very prevalent night after night.  Brain tumors disappearing even in children.  We got the x-rays before and after.  Lupus healed, cancers healed, the lame are walking, the blind are seeing and the deaf are hearing.  I’ve seen it with my own eyes.  I’m just astounded at how God is using this young man.

Sid: Now, when I, as you know, I went to Brownsville, many times to that revival and there was a tangible manifest presence of God.  The Glory of God was in Brownsville.  How does the Glory that is going on in Daphne, Alabama compare?  I would say on September the 13^th which was a Friday night we were still in Daphne Civic Center at that time.  I would say that was the most holy service I have ever been in.  I wouldn’t say that it was the most powerful service I have ever been in, but it was the most holy service I have ever been in.  Nobody would even approach the platform the pulpit for two hours and forty five minutes.  The Spirit of God would come in waves that would take your breath almost.  And it was so powerful at times it would grow holy quiet and not even a baby would cry in that large crowd.  I mean the people talked about it for weeks and then just a couple of Friday nights ago, over here at the convention Center at Mobile the power of God came in and I think it may have been the most powerful presence of God I have ever felt in a service, in a congregational service.  So the presence of God is here and it just about powerful and sometime indescribable way.

Sid: Now people that went to Brownsville left and took the Glory with them.  Some people I mean, my friend Pastor Steve Gray went to Brownsville, comes back to his church and he had the great Smithton revival.  Are things like that happening now with this move of God’s Spirit?

Pastor John: They really are and you know revival is breaking out in minster’s churches when they are going home and some of the same miracles that is happening here now are beginning to happen in their ministries and they never had miracles before.  There is something about being in the presence of an anointing that you absorb something.  I can’t explain it but when you go home those very things begin to happen.  It is just like you absorb something in your spirit, in your DNA and when you go home it oozes out of you and it begins to affect people.  But healings are taking place, I won’t go into details on this one but there was another major healing took place just in the last week or so.

Sid: Oh, yes you are, I want to hear about it, please.

Pastor John: Well a pastor was here and heard about the Delia situation and actually saw it and saw her walking that night and went home and a woman that was in a car wreck and she is paralyzed from the neck down, chin down.  And she got up and began to walk, even though she was paralyzed in a wheel chair.  I was just told about this yesterday when I was on a Christian program being interviewed the pastor told me about it.  About his friend who came down and went home and miracles began to break out there.  I’m hearing about that happening regularly and I really think, Sid, God is showing up and revival usually happens in the most desperate of times.  I believe that God is showing up and He’s convincing  his church, showing His people that although health insurance maybe a problem, health care you may be worrying about that, but I want you to know I can take care of you.  I don’t care what is wrong with you I can take care of you.  And I really believe that before the coming of Christ that God is going to show the church again that He is the great physician, that He has a health care plan for His people.  And it has brought such peace and such confidence to people when they see these miracles.  People are just in awe when they leave out of here.  It is like when they get out of their car to come to revival, they don’t know when they go back to their car several hours later what would have happened in that period of time.  That’s the way it is night after night we don’t know night after night what God is going to do next.  I just seeing so many things happening with my own eyes, there are timesI mean I just have to make sure my jaw is closed, because….

Sid: You said something very very powerful and you said that God wants the believers in the world to see the miraculous before He returns, but I always felt where the greatest darkness is, you can see the greatest light.  Were coming into a time in the history of planet earth where were beginning to see great darkness, the prophets are talking about it.  It is coming sooner than anyone even dares think and if we can move from being servants to friends of God.  If the average Christian can hear God’s voice and have God explain mysteries in their life.  Mysteries having to do with their personal life their investments, their relationships, what should they purchase, whether they’re supposed to move or not.  I also believe many that prophesized about the great wealth transfer, the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.  You had a Word from God and he told you this October 2009, what was that Word?

Pastor John: Yeah, all mysteries would be revealed, the Lord gave me that message and the Lord said I don’t call you servants anymore in the scripture he said because the servants carry out the orders of their master and the Lord said that I’m trying to move you from that mentality of just obeying Me and looking at me in that realm.  I want to you to look at me as your friend and I want to share My heart with you.  I want to share my secrets with you.

Sid: In other words, did you hear that?  God said to him, all mysteries will be revealed before I return and that is why we are having shot of seeing all of these physical healings.  Can you picture having such a friendship with God that every mystery in your life he would reveal to you and show you direction?  Pastor John it plain doesn’t matter how dark the world gets if you have that type of relationship with God.

Pastor John: And God’s speaking to His people, and people are beginning to hear the voice of the Lord clearer than they ever heard.  You know as technology increases, you know there are satellites’ now that can read license plates of any car in just about any car anywhere in the world.  Technology has really increased.  How tragic it would be if technology of the spirit world, as far as believers was concerned would not increase and keep in tandem with the natural.  God is speaking more clearly today than He has ever spoken.  Prophets are seeing more clearly than they have ever seen their hearing more clearly than they have ever heard.

Sid: But Joel says in the last days the average person will hear God’s voice and move in these…ah, were out of time.  I want to send you these three teachings CDs that will equip you in how to move from servant to friend.

SID: Hello, Sid Roth your investigative reporter here with Surprise from Mozambique currently in South Africa. Now Surprise, you have surprised me learning 13 languages supernaturally; read them, write them, speak them; I think that’s phenomenal, but what is even more amazing to me are these dead people that you’ve been praying for and your friends have been praying for that have come back to life. Tell me about one.

SURPRISE: Up ‘til now, from 2000 up ‘til now we have, in the whole ministry we have about 17 people that rose from the dead that we’ve been praying for them. And one that rose from the dead last October, we made an interview of this man he actually didn’t want to come back to life he criticized all the believers that were praying for him. He was saying, as he was dead, he went on his journey going to a good place. There was coming 6 people towards him to welcome him. So those 6 people that were about to welcome him they said look behind you. There is a group of people that need you back; you have to go back. Now the minister said “No I don’t have to. I don’t want to go back so please let me go with you.”And then those 6 people returned back and go on their way. And then that man turned his head and looked at those people that were needing him back, and he was saying “No, no, no, no, no!”While he was saying no, no, he was rising from the dead. “No, no, no, no, no!” And then he rose from the dead.

SID: Did he tell you what heaven was like?

SURPRISE: Well from the heavens that he had experienced a major tremendous place of suffering.

SID: From the heavens he saw the suffering here.

SURPRISE: He went from the suffering to heaven.

SID: Oh, so did he see hell?

SURPRISE: Yes.

SID: That’s what you’re saying, I see.

SURPRISE: Exactly.

SID: So first he saw hell?

SURPRISE: He first saw hell and himself was burning.

SID: Is hell real?

SURPRISE: Exactly, hell is real, heaven is real.

SID: What happens to someone in hell?

SURPRISE: Well in hell the people are crying day and night gnashing their teeth. So this means, according to what he was saying as he was going to that specific place; flying to the place where the people are drinking alcohol. And they’re in hell but that alcohol is just fire it’s burning inside and outside you are burning again. So the people that drink are crying. So he went somewhere where there is a big hole that is, the bottom of the hole you can’t see the individual voices crying inside. So he was about to be thrown in the pit and the person that was going, leading him said “No, this is not your time; so this is a tour. We just want to take you to see the places.”

SID: Alright then after he saw hell did he see heaven?

SURPRISE: After that is when he was taken to heaven to a beautiful place that’s where he saw the 6 people coming towards him.

SID: I see, and he just didn’t want to go home.

SURPRISE: And then from there when he saw that it was just a fresh breath, we are coming with those people and then it’s all no, this is a very good place. I don’t want to go back; I don’t want to go back; to go home. I want just to stay and remain here.

SID: So what were his first words when he came back?

SURPRISE: Not only himself but all the 17 their first word is that ‘I’m hungry.’ So I go back and remember the words of Jesus in Matthew chapter 5, verse 6 it says “Blessed are those that are hungry and thirsty for righteousness because they will be filled.”

SID: Now right after, you know right after Surprise had an encounter with God which; had he not been obedient he would’ve been dead like his parents; right after he had that encounter with God he began having, were these dreams or visions or visitations to heaven? What was that?

SURPRISE: That was exactly it. It started in a dream. From the day I gave my life to Jesus. It of course was good because I started hearing God’s voice before I could learn about God and God gave me the languages before I could learn about speaking in tongues speaking in other languages; so I started walking in miracles before I learned about miracles. So from there the Lord gave me a dream every day I was going to heaven.

SID: So in your dream you went to heaven and what did he teach you there?

SURPRISE: That was three and a half because he was teaching about the book of Revelation and the book of Daniel.

SID: Now those are pretty complex books.

SURPRISE: Exactly.

SID: And what was your overall impression from what he taught you?

SURPRISE: My impression, actually it was scary in the beginning like a person not so mature in those things, but as the man was explaining it. It goes back to the word of Jesus and still in Matthew chapter 5 verse 9 it says blessed are the peace makers because they will be called sons of God so the peace makers when we go ahead and look and investigate about the peace makers the fighters. The fighters are the peace makers that’s why Jesus was giving that authority to us that we have to fight.

SID: What are we fighting?

SURPRISE: We fight against the demons, we fight against disease, we fight against unbelieving of the heart.

SID: Well you know here in the United States of America most Christians don’t even believe in the devil let alone demons how are they going to fight?

SURPRISE: Well if you don’t then that’s why they will not be called the sons of God because as Jesus said blessed are the peace makers. Peace makers are the fighters because he himself, Jesus, he’s our peace because he was prophesied by the prophet Isaiah. In Isaiah chapter 9 and he was saying the son has been born, to us the child has been given; the whole government will be on his shoulders; he will be called a mighty counselor a wonderful prince of peace. Now Jesus is the prince of peace, he comes through Matthew and he said blessed are the peace makers. Peace makers are the fighters. If you follow the life of Jesus you end up seeing Jesus holding the sword.

SID: You know I’ve never heard that understanding but that’s the most wonderful understanding:“blessed are the peace makers.”You’re the fighters, you’re the warriors. When we come back we’ll find out about miracles. Don’t go away.

Shalom Mishpochah, Shalom family.  Mishpochah is a Hebrew word.  It means family and we’re the Mishpochah.  The family with a Jewish heart made up of Jewish and non-Jewish people with a middle wall of separation has finally come down to form from those an ancient spiritual DNA on Jewish people and the new covenant gentile spiritual DNA on gentile believers.  It is sort of like the Jewish person that knows Jesus is incomplete and the gentile person that knows Jesus is incomplete.  When the two come together and become one just like Jesus prayed in John 17:21 then it says in John 17:22 the same glory that is on Jesus is going to be on them.  God has been waiting so patiently for the church to fulfill Romans 11:11.  Salvation has come to the gentile to provoke the Jew to jealousy and then Paul just summarizes it in the 2 chapter of Ephesians when he says that when that middle wall of separation come down between Jew and gentile it forms a dwelling place for God, the full presence of God.  And by the way have you wondered why God is motivating you to move in signs and wonders?  It’s to reach the Jew.  Yeah, it really is.  It says the Jew requires a sign; it’s to reach the Jew.  And when the gentile believer who’s called by God to the reach the Jew reaches the Jewish believer then the two come together called One New Man, makes the full dwelling place of God and we’ll see the greatest Gentile revival the world has ever seen.  It took me many years to figure out how to say this in such a few sentences to ya.  But, I have Dave Hess on the telephone and he has a 4 CD teaching series called “Moving Beyond Disappointment”.  I know that you need this.  I don’t think you need this, I know that you need this.  Some of you are so discouraged you’ve been hanging in for your marriage year after year.  You’ve even had promises, prophetic promises, promises in the Word of God and it looks like, you know God’s answering prayers for other people but not for you.  Some of you, you’ve  lost your home, you’ve lost your job and yet you have all these promises from God.  And you’re a thither and you’re a giver and you’re so discouraged right now, so disappointed right now.  And some of you might me like Dave Hess.  You just got a death sentence from a doctor out of the blue.  It never in a million years did he expect a doctor to say that you have and aggressive form of leukemia.  You’ve only got weeks to live.  But they started in aggressive form of treatment of chemotherapy, all his hair falls out and I would imagine you’re getting very discouraged even with everything you know Dave, and then you had a mysterious visitor.

DAVE: It was in the middle of the night, 3:00 in the morning.  I was in a solitary room and there were no lights in the room except a little night light underneath my bed.  And it was in that time that I began to think about my family and miss them terribly.  I began to picture my wife sitting at home trying to figure out the bills alone and I pictured my two young sons playing in the backyard alone. And then this picture came of my daughter coming down the aisle of her wedding alone without me there.  Grief began to just grip me so.  There was a worship son that I had been singing different times when discouragement tried to hit me and so I started to sing this little worship song and half way through it I choked.  I literally choked.  I could not get another word out and I began to weep.  And in that moment the door of my room opened and what appeared to be a nurse came walking over to my bed. And amazingly she was singing the same song that I had just been trying to sing.

Sid: She hadn’t heard you singing?

Dave: Hadn’t heard me singing.  I wasn’t singing it loud I was just singing it to myself.  But, she was singing the same song and she came over, she stood beside my bed, she looked in my eyes and she lifted my head up from the pillow.  She sang the song to me or it felt like she sang it into me and then she started to pray for me in a language I never heard before.   And what I remember most.

Sid: Now this was a nurse?

Dave: I thought it was a nurse.  I figured who else would be walking in my….

Sid: But nurses still don’t do that.  They don’t pick up your head and sing a Christian song.

Dave: No,I never had a singing nurse before.  It was the first (chuckling) I couldn’t tell her facial features, she appeared to be an African American woman.  But, what I do remember was her eyes.  Her eyes were the most courageous eyes I’ve ever seen.  And her eyes looked almost like “if you could see what I see you would not be afraid.  And she put my head back down on the pillow and this courage, this confident peace just rose up inside of me and she walked out of my room.  A little while later my regular nurse came in to check on me and she said you look like you’re wide awake and you look happy.  Your different, your face looks different.  And I told her what had happened.  Then she said well, I’ve been in this hall all night and there is no nurse, we don’t have an African American nurse on duty tonight. There’s no one who came by me, I don’t know who that was. Now, I thought in that moment well, maybe the Lord woke somebody up in the city and told them to pray for me.

Sid: Speaking of His compassion, you learned some very valuable lessons about love and compassion.  You make one statement that really, it just hit me like a two by four, and this is what you say, and by the way, I cannot recommend enough your four CD teaching series, “Moving Beyond Disappointment”.  Are you discouraged?  Are you disappointed, are ready to give up?  Have you been given a death sentences?  Have you been kicked out of your house?  Has your wife or your husband left you?  Have your children been rebellious?  You know, all the things that happen by being humans, this four CD teaching series, I promise you will be listening to over and over again.  The lessons that not just Dave learned when he went through this tragedy but, God  had built into his spirit and he was able to exercise these tools and what a difference it made what peace.  But, with a statement that you made Dave is “Without love people become objects to us.”  Comment on that.

Dave: Yes, it’s true, I realized that I had become a professional pastor.  I hate to even admit that, but, I had.  I gave the pat answers and I talked about faith and I prayed in faith but , the Lord began to show me that I had lost touch with what it felt like to walk through difficulty.  And he used this whole experience to increase compassion in my heart.  And understanding of what people go through when their struggling and I feel like the statement that Paul made that faith operates through love.  I saw the Lord beginning to make that a reality in my life.  I didn’t lose faith.  I still know and trust that God can do miracles but, He added this huge component  of compassion for the people that are walking through whatever situation they might find and both are important; heavy doses of compassion, heavy doses of faith as we walk through the kind of events that we face in life.

Sid: Now, because you walked through and had victory with cancer, you have, and this has been my experience, when people go through something and have victory, their the devil’s worst  nightmare.

Dave: Oh yeah.

Sid: You have so  much… You hate cancer.  Don’t you?

Dave: I hate it with a passion, nothing good about it.

Sid: I bet you want your area to be a ….and I read this in my notes so I’m  not being so bright.  You want your area to be a cancer free zone on earth.  Do you really believe that?

Dave: Yes, I do.  I  believe that Jesus has fully gained the victory over every sin, every transgression and every sickness and every depression and every sorrow and so I believe that seeing heaven manifest on the earth as He taught us to pray includes seeing sickness broken.  Nobody’s sick in heaven.

SID: Hello. Sid Roth here with Nic and Rachael Billman. And when they worship literally the angels worship with them. And if you can just get in that atmosphere, when both your children that I talked to you about had miracle births. Tell me about Layla. She really intrigues me.

RACHAEL: Yeah. Well Layla was born early. I went into labor at eight months, and it was very unexpected of course. And I had preeclampsia and they took me in and did an emergency C-section, and was in the last stages of preeclampsia where I was bleeding to death, and the doctors were not sure that they were be able to get the bleeding to stop. And it was during this time that I had an out-of-body experience where I was obviously my body was still laying on the table, but my spirit left and I was watching myself on the table.

SID: I’ve heard of people doing that.

RACHAEL: Yeah. And it was like everything was moving in slow motion. You know, some people say oh they saw a light or, you know. I didn’t see anything like that. It was just immense peace that I had. And I watched the doctors go over and let Nic know, you know, that they weren’t sure that I was gonna be able to live. And of course, the Lord did a miracle and the bleeding stopped. And even in the recovery room it was amazing because we were in this room where it was a very sterile environment. They really weren’t sure if I was gonna make it through the night, that night. But I turned to Nic and I said, “Honey, did somebody bring me flowers?” And the nurse picked up then and said, “No, nobody is allowed to bring any flowers on this floor.” And there was just this immense fragrance of like roses and cinnamon, and vanilla, and what I know now to be like frankincense and myrrh. It was just beautiful fragrance.

SID: Besides you, did anyone else smell it?

RACHAEL: Yeah. The nurses were even looking around the room seeing if anyone snuck in flowers.

SID: Now I was told that the nurses kept going in all night to smell that aroma.

RACHAEL: They did. In fact, on their breaks they would come in and ask if they could just come in and sit and read their books or, you know, just to be there.

SID: But you know who I’m really intrigued over? Your daughter, Layla. I mean, all your children were raised in this environment of worshipers, of God. And Layla at three sees an angel about ready to touch a woman and tells the woman standing in front of her, “You should move.” Imagine this little pipsqueak at three years old. “You should move because this woman is gonna fall, because an angel is touching her right now.” And she has words for people. Tell me. At three.

NIC: Yeah, three years old. Rachael was in Africa and we were doing a worship service and this woman came that was just held up, just bitter and her heart was closed. You could tell she was just sitting there with a stern look. And Layla comes over to her. Everybody had tried praying for this woman. Nothing worked. And Layla comes up to her and she puts her hand on her shoulder and she says, “I know your mommy left when you were little, but your daddy will never leave you.” And the lady just breaks and starts to weep and weep. It was an accurate word of knowledge. Her mother had abandoned her.

SID: Speaking of words of knowledge and of needing love, you were recently at a conference that we’re gonna show some footage. We’ll play one of your songs. Tell me what was going on at that conference as you were leading worship.

NIC: It was really an immersion of the Father’s love, and you could tangibly feel his presence in the room. You could feel the warmth of His presence. People could actually feel warmth on their faces and on their hearts. And people just began to weep and began to laugh, and there’s such an atmosphere of freedom. It was just a really powerful experience.
